The frequency accuracy required for crystal units in BLE, Zigbee and other communication functions is said to be ±40 ppm. Communication functions that require such high accuracy are being widely equipped to automobiles in recent years.
Previous crystal units were unable to meet the required accuracy when including high-temperature operation and long-term reliability such as with automotive applications. Tuning with ICs was required. That resulted in the issue of higher design and manufacturing costs.
