    What you can do with pyroelectric infrared sensors (advantages)

    The sensor itself does not emit LED or other light but instead detects changes in the amount of infrared rays which occur when a person (object) with a different temperature than the surrounding environment moves. Because it detects temperature differences, it is suited to the detection of human bodies which have a body temperature.

    Passive component…Because it operates when there is human movement (temperature change), the low consumption current (standby current) is a significant feature and strength.

    The disadvantages: What you cannot do with pyroelectric infrared sensors

    Because it detects temperature changes, it cannot detect people at rest. Since objects other than human bodies (animals, etc.) also emit infrared rays, they may be detected when there is a temperature change. When attached to a robot or other moving object, it detects temperature changes due to that movement and is unable to determine what it is detecting.
    Pyroelectric infrared sensors are unable to detect objects through glass or acrylic panels. (Far-infrared rays are unable to pass through glass or acrylic panels)

    Install in a location which is not exposed to direct sunlight. In addition, devise an enclosure so that the sensor section including the lens is not exposed to direct sunlight.

    Precautions for outdoor use

    In the case of outdoor use, suitable Optical Filter and water and humidity proof structure should be applied.

    Precautions for the prevention of failures and malfunctions

    1. To prevent failure or malfunction, Please use a stabilized power supply.
    2. Do not use sensors and Fresnel lenses in charge and electrostatic fields, or in the following conditions, as this may lead to failure or malfunction.
    In such a fluid as water, alcohol etc. corrosive gas (SO2, Cl2, NOX etc.) or sea breeze.
    In high humidity.
    In a place exposed directly to sunlight or headlight of automobile.
    In a place exposed to rapid ambient temperature change.
    In a place exposed directly to blow from air-conditioner or heater.
    In a place exposed to strong vibration.
    In a place exposed to strong electromagnetic field.
    In such a place where infrared ray is shaded.
